A Guide to Loving a Broken Person

One. Don’t get annoyed when they insist you do not love them; no matter how many times you’ve said it. Be patient. Do not stop reminding them. If you don’t love them, stop reading.

Two. When they are screaming and throwing anything they can get their hands on, hold them and don’t let go. When they are awake at three in the morning and are crying for absolutely no reason, bring them a cup of peppermint tea and kiss them on the forehead. Do not ask questions.

Three. They won’t be able to say they love you yet, because they don’t know what it means anymore. Bring them daisies or tulips, but not roses. Roses have too much significance.

Four. Kiss their scars.
The ones you can see and the ones you can’t.

Five. If you plan on leaving them, don’t do these things. Don’t make them fall for you and then get bored of them.
This is not a game.
